Safety Guidelines

TO ALL MEMBERS OF JORDAN UCC AND THE COMMUNITY-

JORDAN UCC’S GUIDE TO SAFELY WORSHIPPING INDOORS TOGETHER (Starting April 18th)

We hope you will join us for indoor services on Sunday mornings at 8:00 am or 10:30 am in the Sanctuary. We are making every effort to provide a safe and welcoming worship experience.

If you are not comfortable in the indoor group setting just yet, we will continue to provide an online streaming service at 10:30 AM ET on Vimeo, YouTube and Facebook.

For everyone’s safety we ask that you abide by a few simple guidelines:

Masks will be required by all attendees while inside Jordan UCC, including before, during and after the service. Ideally, please wear your masks upon exiting your car.

Observe social distancing at all times…that means a minimum of 6 feet between you and the next person (family members being the exception).

Entrance to the building will be limited to the main church entrance. This will also be the main exit.

Families will be highly encouraged to all enter at the same time so that they can be seated together.

Hand sanitizer and extra disposable masks will be made available.

Please follow any directional signage once inside the building.

Upon entering the church you will be handed an index card and a pencil by an usher or greeter. Please write your name on the card and deposit it in the same bucket as your offering. This is being done for a record of attendance at each service. You may write all of the names in your party / family who are in attendance on one card.

Ushers, consistory members and members of the safety team will be on hand to assist you in every way. As you enter you will be given a bulletin. The bulletin will also be available on our website and can be printed at home if you are more comfortable doing so.

Ushers will be seating all attendees. Sections of pews have been blocked to create distancing between seats.

A thorough cleaning and disinfecting will occur between the two services each Sunday, including pews, handrails and all other critical surfaces.

While there will be plenty of music, and special quests, we will not be SINGING as a congregation, nor will you have any spoken parts within the service; meaning we will not be speaking the RESPONSIVE READINGS or PRAYERS. Each service will have a volunteer to sing hymns and represent the congregation as the “Voice of the People”.

Offering will be taken at the entrance/exit; offering plates will not be passed during the service.

There will be no passing of the peace.

We will not be using nametags at this time.

Our parlor is available for additional seating.

The elevator is available and will be staffed for operation.

Communion, when applicable, will continue to be provided in a disposable, self-contained individual serving for each attendee.

The restrooms outside of the Social Hall will be open. Please make every attempt to use them before or after the service as needed, rather than during the service.

At the close of the service, ushers will dismiss the congregation pew by pew, from back to front.

We look forward to seeing you each Sunday, whether in person or online, and we appreciate your help in keeping the safety of others in mind during our services. Together, we will get through this.
