“Man's chief end is to glorify God and to
enjoy him forever”
So begins the Westminster Catechism. The Jordan congregation
concurs. The first among others concerns for the parish is TO
WORSHIP GOD.
Worship is our thankful and glad response to God. It is an expression
of our great love for God and our praise and gratitude for all
God is and all God does. When we worship we are living out the
great commandment, to love God with all our heart, soul, strength
and mind, and our neighbor as ourselves. To worship is to wait
on and render service to one who is worthy. Though the gods
of power, status and material things beckon us to worship them,
we as Christians affirm that the God who created all things,
redeemed us through the Holy Spirit is alone worthy of our ultimate
devotion and highest praise, our true worship. The purpose of
worship is to give glory to this great God and be renewed for
God’s work. Worship at
Jordan is at the very heart of what believe we are called
to do: praise and honor God with our very best. Our Sunday
morning experience includes a varied music program, significant
congregational participation, and a relevant biblical message.
On any given Sunday, you might see us baptizing a child, celebrating
Holy Communion, singing a familiar hymn, or listening to the
Pastor do a "character" sermon. From a Time for
All Children, to providing devices for the hearing impaired,
the experience of worship at Jordan attempts to touch the
hearts and lives of all ages. Come and worship God with
us! |
